Knowledge of Dutch Society:
KNM lessons:
In all three of the integration tracks (leerroutes), you will receive the subject ‘Knowledge of Dutch Society’ (KNM). You will learn about various aspects of Dutch society, including:
- Work and income
- Manners, values, and norms
- Living
- Health and healthcare
- History and geography
- Institutions
- Government and the rule of law
- Education and upbringing
KNM Exam:
Are you taking the B1 Track (Z-route) or the Education Track (Onderwijsroute)?
Then you must take the KNM exam. This exam is done on a computer. You will watch videos related to Dutch society and answer questions about them. The exam lasts 45 minutes.
Op Mijn Inburgering, you can enroll for the KNM exam. You can take the exam at one of the DUO locations in Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Rijswijk, Rotterdam, Utrecht or Zwolle.
Are you taking the Self-Reliance Track (Z-route)?
Then you will not take a separate KNM exam. You will have a final conversation with the municipality. During this conversation, you will talk about what you have learnt during your integration, so you must also be able to talk about KNM.
